Good and proper nutrition is important for a woman that needs help getting pregnant as this will ensure a healthier you and increase your fertility rate. Now this applies to the male partner as well for a healthy male means healthy sperm and proper conception.

It is well documented that healthy eating habits can help women reach or maintain a Body Mass Index of between 20 and 24. Being too thin or extra heavy will lessen your odds at getting pregnant.

Pay attention to your vitamin intake. Zinc, Vitamin B6 and E deficiencies can hinder reproductive health. You will find Zinc in meat and seafood, Vitamin B6 in whole grain products, some vegetables and poultry. Vitamin E is abundant in nuts like almonds, fruits like avocado and vegetables like spinach. As far as possible, try to go Organic in your choice of food and cut down on refined foods or processed foods. Take more of the ‘good fats’ which you will find in oily fish like salmon, tuna and mackerel.

If for any reason you believe that your intake of vitamins does not meet your daily requirements, then adding a food supplement rich in vitamins will help. Fish oil supplements are also something to consider. Most importantly, don’t forget your water. Eight glasses a day would be fine.

Try to avoid these – coffee and caffeinated drinks, alcohol in any form and do not smoke. If you happen to smoke, then giving it up is something you must work on right away so start now.
