Is Total Fitness Achievable?
Yes, it is definitely possible. But that goes without saying that you will have to drudge hard before getting the fruits of your efforts, if you see what I mean.
Total fitness is achievable indeed, and it requires you do a combination of several trainings. In fact, sport and body conditionning experts assert that you should do a combination of strenght, agility, stretching, elasticity and cardiovascular training sessions.
A word of caution is necessary here : when doing your daily training, you should move to achieve total fitness but not do the same movements over and over again.
Why ? Because doing the same movement all the time may cause you to experience injuries, also caused by stress. And the area that it most likely going to be injured is your knees. Take good care of your knees…
Actually, you may consider buying knee supporting patches sold in every sport material shop.
Don’t worry : if you can make the most out of your training, you will be less affected by injuries as time will pass. But be careful though. Even the most professional and experienced sportsman can be injuried.
Here are the main guidelines you have to follow in order to achieve total fitness :
Firstly, keep this golden rule in mind : you have to diversify your training sessions and spread them on the whole week. One different activity everyday is fine.
For example, you could do cardio one day. Then, the next day, you could do work out for your chest, and then for your legs, and so on…
Never force your body. If you feel tired, then don’t train at all that day. But be careful : you should know how to separate laziness and fatigue.
Of course, total fitness cannot be achieve if procrastination blocks you. That’s why I always teach this third golden rule to my students who want to achieve total fitness : set yourself goals, and stick with it. Do 25 push ups and run 2 km per day, or more… but stick with it.
If you set yourself precise goals, then you will know what you are doing and why you are doing this.
One thing I always do when training is applying the “Extra 1″ rule. Basically, it is adding one push up, or sit up – whatever – to your normal training, per day. That way, you will quickly be able to identify your limits and figure out how to push them even further.
Total fitness will come with time. This is another golden rule : please be patient. Never force your body more than it can support. If you respect your body and treat it well, then it will also treat you well and not make you feel pain or whatsoever.
You could write down the above mantra and make it your own !
Total fitness is also a habit : a training session habit, a habit of eating healthy foods and drinking a lot of water…
I will give you a final tip to achieve total fitness : visualise, imagine yourself wherever you want to be. Imagine yourself strong, fit and extremely flexible. Everyday ! This will give you a tremendous boost of inspiration and motivation.
