The Concept 2 Rower – Examining Its Notable Features
Filed under General Health
During the early 1980s, the Concept 2 rowers were introduced to the world.
The snowfall in Vermont, where the machines are made, pushed this company to start producing them in response to the harsh elements. So it makes sense that creating a high quality rowing machine for indoor use would be a terrific idea. However, they deliberately wanted to make the very best rowers possible using intelligent design principles.
I have the unique position to write about this since I have been using a Concept 2 for nearly a decade. So I’ll mention a few more particulars in this review of Concept 2 rowing machines.
The choices are pretty upfront, you can buy the Model D or the Model E.
If you want to spend less, then the Model D is the rower you want to purchase.
Each rowing machine comes standard with a performance monitor of which there are two types, the PM3 and PM4. If you prefer a better monitor with the Model D rowing exercise machine, then you will have to choose the D model with the improved monitor.
The Model E rowing machine comes with the PM4 performance monitor as standard equipment. You can expect to pay up to $350 more with the Model E rower, and the Model D rower has two different prices for the upgrades.
The performance monitoring devices, PM3 and PM4, are sleek designs that provide the most essential metrics for monitoring your heart rate and rowing stats.
There is an enclosed pulse monitoring device worn across your chest, and there is a strap that holds it in place. There is no discomfort having it strapped since it is very thin with a stretchable spandex strap.
Once you begin rowing your mind will not even notice that it is there.
This is also a wireless device, so that means no wires are going to be swinging off of you.
The only thing requiredthat’s needed is the resistance to make you work while rowing, and that is accomplished with a flywheel on the front of the rower. There are no safety issues with this because the flywheel is completely covered in a plastic assembly.
You can modify the amount of resistance through a small lever on the flywheel housing. There are also no concerns with noise because the overall machine is nearly silent during rowing. Since the flywheel is a lot like a fan, you are going to hear a gentle swirling sound. But it is much softer than any fan because you will not be creating the same amount of RPM’s as a regular fan does.
You could put this rowing exercise machine in just about any room and easily use it without creating noise.
You can select the type of performance metrics that is most appropriate for you from a simple to understand menu on either the PM3 or PM4.
It is helpful from the standpoint of your progress to know your total rowing distance, how long it took you to do it, or even how fast you can perform a stroke Thus it all boils down to your reasons for using the rower beyond primariy goal to get and stay in shape. For example, if you are a competitive rower, you will in all probability keep your eye on different stats from other competitive rowers.
