What is Acne Vulgaris?
Acne Vulgaris is the Latin name scientists use for Acne. We all suffer Acne at some stage in our lives, mild or severe, pimples or zits are all forms of Acne.
Apparently 85% of the entire population suffer Acne in some form either, mild or severe, at some stage in their lives.
Due to the hormonal changes that affect women through child bearing etc. they seem to have have to fight this scourge often into their fourth or fifth decade.
Stress seems to be the main contributory factor in men. The root cause of Acne is quite simple.
Ther main cause of Acne is the blocking of the skin pores by oils and dead skin layers. Infection occurs when the bacteria trapped under the skin grow and thrive.
Too much oil is produced by the sebaceous glands when the Androgen hormones call for it then when excessive oils and bacteria are trapped under the skin the whole area becomes inflamed.
This build up, causes swelling, redness and pus, which is seen on the surface of the skin as a pimple; either a whitehead or a blackhead.
Although Acne has been with us since the begging of mankind, it is still an under studied problem. Treantment by trial and error is still largely the only treatment method causing long term suffering for the afflicted.
To date doctors do not have an identifiable treatment to offer sufferers. More often than not, they ask their patient to try one treatment after another until they find the solution that will work for them. Frustration is added because of the time it takes for the skin to show any visible improvement.
Effective Acne treatments are available, even for the most severe forms, they can be natural or synthetic. A progressive affliction such as Acne can move from mild to severe relatively quickly, therefore early consultation with a medical practitioner is far better than delaying.
Permanent scarring can and often does ensue for Acne sufferers. Once this happens, the acne sufferer will either have permanent scars or will have to seek regular treatment to have the scars removed.
They can go on to lead “normal” lives with no visible signs of the skin disease that at one time ailed them.
The singular most important decision anyone who is currently suffering Acne could make is to seek out competnet advice and treatment as early as possible.
